A Little About Our Teachers
Babbette Murdock: Studio owner/teacher.
Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Pointe, Cheer, Adult Classes
My dance training started way back when I was 3 years old with Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Shortly after that I added everything else; Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, and Pointe. I realized quickly that dance is what I loved to do. I started out with the usual competitions; winning trophies and awards in Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre. I also competed in New York, La., Vegas, and even Disney. After realizing the love for dance and the love for performing I decided to make it my career. I graduated from high school and traveled with the International Auto Show dancing for Chevrolet and Toyota for the next 6 years. Immediately following that I danced in a show in Vegas for 12 months. After Vegas I moved to Miami to start rehearsals for a show in Japan that lasted one year. Yes, Japan it was a great experience and one that I will always remember. When I got home from there within 3 days I was offered a job dancing on Carnival Cruise line. I turned it down, being tired of all the traveling and missing my family.
I started teaching at my sister’s dance studio, Dancetera (in Fraser). I realized that I loved seeing children learn and grow as dancers and opened Dance Fusion in Clinton Twp. in 1997. I had a wonderful 10 year run with many memories and made wonderful friends. The best part of having Dance Fusion was being able to mentor/teach the little girls that started with me in 97' grow into wonderful ladies. Bittersweet. Now, Dance with Mrs. Babbette has been going strong since I took it over from the Algonac Recreation program. We then moved into the Algonac Health and Fitness building and from their held classes and continued to grow. We are currently 3 doors down in our BRAND NEW FACILITY. We will be having our annual showcase at East China Performing Arts Center on Meissner Rd. in East China.
